Retrospective and projected warming-equivalent emissions from global livestock and cattle calculated with an alternative climate metric denoted GWP*

Recently published in PLOS ONE, this paper was co-authored by Agustin Del Prado, Juan Tricarico and DSF Director Brian Lindsay, based on their GWP* modelling work.  The study (funded by a collaboration of dairy and beef organizations) builds on the previously published GWP* literature review.  The paper suggests that sustained annual reductions in CH4 emissions by the global cattle sector would stabilize their future effect on global temperature, while greater reductions would reverse historical past contributions to global warming by the sector in a similar fashion to increasing C sinks.  To read the paper in full, click here.
