- A blueprint to make milk production more climate friendly - a project launched at the end of 2021, involving DSF Members Nestle and Hochwald Foods amongst the project partners, aims to show ways to make milk production more climate-friendly by 2050 without compromising farms’ economic viability. The results have just been published in a progress report which reveals that the ‘Climate Milk Farm’ achieves significant CO2e savings and offers a blueprint for sustainable dairy farming. - Arla Foods pioneers heat pump breakthrough to cut supply chain emissions - the European dairy cooperative has overcome one of the industry’s toughest electrification challenges by replacing natural gas with renewable energy at high temperatures. While the cooperative already uses heat pumps across several dairies, this is the first time the technology has been scaled to meet the more extreme requirements of spray drying at their milk powder plant in Denmark. The breakthrough reduces annual emissions by more than 1,500 tonnes of CO2. Read more details
