New Director General for IICA
In January, Muhammad Ibrahim became Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), aiming to boost science-based cooperation for agriculture in the Americas. DSF welcomes his appointment and looks forward to future collaboration on dairy initiatives such as the FEPALE LATAM project which through a partnership between Fepale, IICA, CAF (Latin American Development Bank) and DSF, is implementing the DSF model in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
Mr Ibrahim was sworn in as Director General of the IICA, with ministers and officials from over thirty countries attending. The Guyanese agronomist, recognized for his expertise in sustainable agriculture and rural development, is committed to advancing science-based agrifood systems across the Americas. Representatives from the United States and Argentina were also present.
IICA is the Inter-American system's dedicated agency for agriculture. Its mission is to help its 34 Member States achieve progress in agriculture and rural well-being by providing technical cooperation, training, and support. IICA aims to boost agricultural productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness, with a strong focus on family farming, food security, and environmental resilience.
