Latin America and the Caribbean Develop Shared Agenda for Sustainable Dairy Farming
Producers, technical specialists and institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean are working together to develop a regional agenda for sustainable dairy farming based on the DSF Implementation model. The initiative is led by the Pan-American Dairy Farming Federation (FEPALE), Global Dairy Platform, The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), CAF-Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Now underway in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, the initiative aims to align practices, measure progress and support continuous sustainability improvement through a common regional methodology. The initiative aligns with the Dairy Sustainability Framework (DSF) and will help stakeholders measure and report progress consistently using comparable criteria across countries.
Working closely with the DSF Governing Board member for Latam, Fepale, this project is also unique in that a DSF Aggregating Member is driving the education on implementation. Consorcio Lechero from Chile are bringing real world experience to the development process whilst at the same time supporting other LATAM countries evolve their sustainability programs.
More information on this initiative will be shared at the 18th Pan-American Milk Congress and the 12th International Dairy Industry Congress, July 8-10th 2026 in Medellin, Colombia.
