Land Management Unit Mass Balance Position Paper

GDP have released a Position Paper this month as the GHG Protocol is finalising its Land Sector and Removals Guidance (LSRG) and considering chain of custody models and traceability requirements for carbon reduction/removal accounting and reporting. The paper has been issued since there is concern that Land Management Unit Traceability for carbon removals may impede, rather than accelerate GHG mitigation action in the global dairy sector. The paper sets out the case for a different approach which could avoid supply chain inefficiencies and associated added costs which could result in a negative impact.
