DSF Animal Care reporting is transitioning to a new indicator

DSF Animal Care reporting is transitioning to a new indicator

During March, DSF Implementing, Aggregating and Stage 1 members sent their annual reporting data and prioritised criteria progress to the DSF secretariat.  Animal Care is expected to continue to be the number one prioritised of all the 11 DSF sustainability criteria, by milk volume. Following extensive consultation, in 2023, it was agreed to transition away from the annual average somatic cell count (SCC) to the development and implementation of an Animal Health and Welfare Plan (AHWP). Recognising that, for some DSF Members, this change would require some time to implement, a transitional timeline was put in place. This year’s reporting, data for 2025, is the last time that SCC will be accepted for the indicator metric.

Guidance on this change and an editable template plan can be found on the DSF Members Area (Resource Centre).
