Consultation: Enabling improved reporting by sectors on biodiversity, climate change and energy

GRI has opened a public consultation for the Sector Standards alignment project, which includes the biodiversity and climate change related contents in the existing Sector Standards. The DSF was instrumental in the development of the original GRI Agriculture Standard.

The goal of the alignment is to ensure that the disclosures and language used are consistent with those of the new GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024, as well as the Climate Change (GRI 102) and Energy (GRI 103) Standards, scheduled for publication at the London Climate Action Week.

These Standards include new disclosures that were not previously covered by the Sector Standards, as well as disclosures that correspond to additional reporting developed within the sector project. Many of the previous inputs, to formulate sector reporting and supplementing the (old) Topic Standard disclosures, have now been incorporated as requirements or guidance in the revised Topic Standards.

GRI is running a public comment period on the aligned contents until 13 July 2025. The proposed changes are visible in these exposure drafts, including which additional sector reporting has been removed and what remains. There are a handful of open questions for which views are welcomed. Feedback and responses can be left using this public consultation form. It’s possible to comment only one Sector Standard or the whole suite, if you also have expertise in extractives.
