Animal Care Community of Interest – first meeting – 27 January 2021 at 19h00 UK time
Dear DSF Aggregating and Implementing Members
As you will have seen in the December DSF Newsletter, the first Community of Interest Group is getting underway this month and its focus is Animal Care, the most highly prioritised of the 11 DSF Sustainability Criteria in the 2019 reporting.
As DSF Members (Implementing and Aggregating) you are invited to join the Animal Care CI to explore and share in more detail actions and outcomes from activities related to the DSF Animal Care criteria. For Aggregating members this includes colleagues within the organisations you aggregate for too. The concept behind the initiative is to provide a platform for DSF members to share and compare actions that are implemented in different situations and geographies with the aim of collaboratively identifying solutions to common challenges.
The DSF is delighted that Alejandra Viedma of Consorcio Lechero, DSF Aggregating member from Chile, has agreed to be the Facilitator for this Community. Alejandra is a veterinarian with a diverse background in the dairy industry, having covered customer service, sales and advice in the field. Interaction with a wide range of dairy farming situations and businesses has broadened her view of the industry. For the last five years Alejandra has been coordinating the Dairy Farm Management program of Consorcio Lechero, focusing on the Pastures and Irrigation, Animal Welfare and People and Organizations programs and their respective committees.
At the first meeting, Alejandra will kick things off with a short presentation about Animal Care related activities taking place in Consorcio Lechero Chile, what they are aiming to achieve, along with challenges they face. There will be time to ask questions and discuss the talk as well as an opportunity for the group to suggest ideas for future meetings, speaker ideas, along with meeting arrangements such as frequency, timings, format etc.
If you would like to join the Animal Care Community of Interest, please email your name, company name, country and contact details to: DSF Secretariat with DSF Animal Care CI in the email subject and we will provide you with a link to join the meeting.
If reducing GHG emissions is important to your organisation then keep an eye out for the announcement of the GHG Emissions CI group which gets underway soon.
Kind regards
DSF Secretariat
