Dairy Asia – Towards Sustainability

Dairy Asia – Towards Sustainability

This meeting, organized by the FAO, sought to address the sustainability challenges associated with rising dairy production and consumption across Asia.

Asia is a major player in both dairy production and consumption, with aggregate consumption gains in dairy products over the past decade twice exceeding the annual global average. OECD/FAO figures indicate that at an aggregate level, by 2020 the world will consume 60 billion litres more milk than in 2012, with more than half of this increase coming from Asia. It is therefore necessary to identify and implement sustainable solutions to producing more food with fewer resources.
