DSF Webinars – waste and biodiversity

Earlier this month, the DSF webinar attendees discussed waste.  Mission possible: reducing waste and making sustainability good business for dairy processing was the title of the presentation provided by Charles Brand, Executive Vice President, Processing, Solutions and Equipment at Tetra Pak.  Charles described how Tetra Pak works with customers through an integrated solutions approach to reduce and eliminate waste.  Solutions demonstrate a balance of flexibility, cost effectiveness and tangible results.

Andrew Fletcher, DairyNZ’s Strategy Implementation Manager for Dairy Tomorrow and DSF Development Group member, facilitated a wide-ranging discussion which covering packaging recycling rates, tackling general food waste, reducing energy consumption and efficient water use.  A recording is available to DSF Implementing and Aggregating Members if you missed this session.

March 30 is the next member’s webinar covering Biodiversity: Developing a DSF-aligned biodiversity programme.  Attendees will hear from Joe McMahan Vice President Sustainability Initiatives at the Innovation Center for US Dairy, regarding their newly created data-driven approach to enhancing biodiversity on US dairy farms.  The session will be facilitated by Jennifer Huet Head of Environment at CNIEL and DSF Development Group member.  DSF Members should register to attend by clicking on the details on the DSF Extranet or email the DSF Secretariat for more details.  Keep an eye out for the start of the DSF Biodiversity Community of Interest - more information coming soon!
